At Brand Attention we believe that functionality and usability are just as important as making the individual web pages look good. Users will only appreciate the finer points of our design, and your information, products, and services, if the site displays correctly whatever operating system or browser is being used. Clear design, good page layout, pages that load quickly on every computer (not just the newest or most expensive) are all key essentials in web development.
Brand Attention's team of web developers ensure that all the sites we construct for our clients comply as fully as possible with the international guidelines that regulate web sites. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), an independent and international body, sets the standards for web sites across the world and has put together a series of accessibility standards as part of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).
We follow core standards laid out by the W3C group with regard to design and usability, making sure all sites we develop for our clients are clean, easy-to-navigate, and are as accessible to as many users as is possible. We also draw client's attention to the need to develop web sites that are as accessible as possible for people with disabilities, particularly for visitors with sight difficulties.
The web sites we develop are fully navigable using just a keyboard, without the need for a mouse, with alternative text for all images and by coding text that allows the user to enlarge the font size on their browser. This ensures that all sites comply with the requirements of the Disabilities Discrimination Act in the UK, as well as the recommendations of the W3C/WAI.
As an example, the web site that we recently launched for the Central Manchester and Manchester Children's University Hospitals has an accessibility panel at the top of every page that enables each user to customise the font sizes and colour schemes of the web site. In accordance with best practice, every page on the site complies with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and validates as correct CSS and XHTML 1.0 Transition code. The site has been optimised for the top leading browsers; Internet Explorer, FireFox, Safari and Opera.
